Recommended booking date: Franz Josef free day (as per your bus itinerary) Kayak Classic: Glide effortlessly across the water taking in the panoramic views of the Southern Alps, glaciers and untouched Jurassic rainforest of Lake Mapourika. Paddle into the heart of the Okarito Kiwi Sanctuary, exploring the protected area with your knowledgeable guide. What to bring: A snack, a water-bottle, camera (if you want your own photos as well as our FREE photos), sunglasses and sunscreen. We recommend no denim, just comfortable pants and footwear. Bring your swimsuit and towel in winter and go for a swim in the lake. Quad bike: Join a guided off-road adventure tour! Journey across the riverbed and through the rainforest on our thrilling tracks. Jump on a single person quad bike and ride through rainforest, splash through rivers and explore an ancient glacier riverbed. Enjoy our incredible backdrop of the spectacular Southern Alps and Franz Josef Glacier as you follow your guide through our tracks. On a sunny day enjoy some of the best views of the Franz Josef Glacier you can get from the township or get down and dirty in the puddles and the mud on a rainy day! As we like to say “the wetter the better!" Duration: Allow 2 hours. What to bring: Comfy clothes, sunglasses. Rain jackets, waterproof pants, gumboots and helmets are provided. You can change your booking date and time as many times as you like with 48 hours notice and not incur any fee, which can be done in "My Bookings" of your account. Simply click on the "reschedule" button. No activities can be rescheduled or cancelled within 48 hours as per our Booking Terms. Note that this is a weather dependent activity.
